ABOUT

Angle Park was formed in March 2017, by Belfast guitarist/vocalist & thirty-year Big Country fan; Johnnie Grattan. Bass player Gary Ashall; from Holywood, Co.Down, was first on board after replying to an advert online. A quick jam in Gary's living room cemented his role in the band. A couple of weeks later, a trio line-up was in place with the arrival of drummer Sam 'Danners' Dando from Bridgend, south Wales, who had already been living just outside Belfast for two years. Several weeks later & after seven or eight intense rehearsal sessions, the band were ready to gig & made their live debut at the Big Country Irish Fans Event in Navan, Ireland in early June, 2017. They were given the nod of approval from BC themselves & were even joined on-stage for an encore of the classic 'Restless Natives' at the gig by the band's legendary former bass player; Tony Butler! The classic four-piece line-up was completed in August 2017, with the arrival of second guitarist David Torbitt; from Ballymena, Co.Antrim. In January & February 2018, both Sam Dando & David Torbitt left Angle Park to pursue other projects. A new drummer; Stevie Skinner & a new second guitarist; Ian Gray, both joined the band in February 2018.
